A tradition at the Federal Patent Court is the symposia which have been taking place every two years since 2007. These international conferences bring together a specialised audience and other players to discuss a specific topic of industrial property protection. This happened in 2007 with the topic of  "The Future of Patent Jurisdiction in Europe", in October 2009 with the topic of "From Harmonised Trade Mark Law to Harmonised Trade Mark Proceedings" and in June 2011 with the topic of "National Patent Jurisdiction in Europe".

The Federal Patent Court intends its symposia to provide industrial property protection stakeholders from the business community, the political arena, the legal profession and the judiciary an opportunity for a review, as well as for discussions and suggestions for further negotiations in the relevant fora.
